JacobRolf Jacob Sartorius, a boy born in Oklahoma was raised in Tulsa. The parents of the child were not able to help him after his birth and so he had to be adopted , and then moved to Virginia. The adoptive family took care of him in Reston Virginia. At seven years old, Sartorius began singing in musicals, and then discovered his passion for performance. Vine, an American online short-form video host service, closed its doors in 2017. Sartorius posted lip-syncing videos on Vine which had more than eight millions followers by the month of August. The social network he was a part of provided him with a way to escape the sexism of which he had previously been an victim. He said before Musical.ly that he wasn't the most active. He thought that no one would be watching except the camera.
